In recognition of his outstanding and sustained teaching, mentorship, and dedication to supporting fellow students, Alvin received the CS Undergraduate Mentor Award.

Wong wins the 2026 CS Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award Honorable Mention

In recognition of outstanding contributions, sustained commitment, and excellence in research contributions, Wong wins the honorable mention for the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award.

Awards and Beach BBQ

The Embedded Ethics Lab won six awards this year, so we had no way but to celebrate the only way researchers know how: by turning success into a beach BBQ.

Our findings:

• Award-winning faculty still can't estimate how much food to buy and forgets the soap!
• It takes three computer scientists to light a grill.
• Ice cream beats watermelon.
• Kabab consumption is positively correlated with awards received.
